Prime Video has already enjoyed huge success with its adaptation of To falland now a television adaptation of God of War is coming to the streaming service. It appears the beloved video game series is also in good hands, with Ronald D. Moore serving as showrunner.
You may know Moore from his work on For all humanitywhich is considered one of the best Apple TV shows. He is no stranger to the science fiction genre, having worked on Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, And Battlestar Galacticaso it will be interesting to see how he approaches God of War.
What do we know about Prime Video’s God of War TV show?
So far we don’t have much to say regarding the planned projects. God of War TV series. However, it’s been in the works for a while, with Prime Video first announcing it in December 2022. During that time, we’ve been told what the plot might entail.
The streaming service reported that the show would follow Kratos’ “dangerous journey with his ex-son” to fulfill his wife’s final wish to “spread (his) ashes from the highest peak.” “Kratos soon realizes that the journey is an epic quest in disguise” and one that “will test the bonds between father and son and force Kratos to battle new gods and monsters for the fate of the world.”
However, there have been some changes to the team and it’s unclear if the plot will change now that Moore is on board as showrunner. He succeeds his predecessor Rafe Judkins, so changes could well be coming.
Now that the show is back on track, it will be interesting to see if it joins our best Prime Video show lineup, which is already full of excellent entries. In a world where video game adaptations are getting better, thankfully I have high hopes for this one.
